paper/cardboard product packaging

Post by tali on Tue Jul 28, 2009 2:19 pm

HELLO
soon li has already posted his packaging idea, but I'll throw this up in case anyone is interested

BY NO MEANS did I create these templates although I did print and cut them out. :}
if you're interested in testing these out for yourself or just trying your own packaging design ideas, I got them from here.

one of them is actually a playing cards box, but the others are like.. business card type things.
I plan to use coloured cardboard and make the template bigger so that it can actually host the wallet nicely.
the edges of the last two interlock and it's all pretty nifty.

comments/criticism welcome, as always

i was going to post something completely inappropriate but remembered this is a business forum.
any how, yes i love paper box making and all but i hate paper as a packaging cos its so papery, cardboard is more sturdy and i guess more professional~
boxes are annoying cos you have to cut out so many flaps
so whether it be a paper or cardboard packaging, with or with out bubble wrap, dinosaurs, chuck norrisi, jesus, etc
i think it would be better to just make a sleeve since you just need a rectangle =]

well, depends what kind of inappropriate. however, your self-restraint does not go unnoticed.

paper is v. flimsy but it was in my printer so I was like yeah roll with that
the finals would defs be made out of cardboard.. or how about cardboard WITH PAPER LINING?
yeah no boxes, they get crushed pretty easily
sleeves are k.

Looks good...get something final by friday...obviously sturdier. We need to put our logo, CitiPower and Powercor logos and SMILE logo on it.
We need at least two for Tuesday, because they need to be submitted on Wednesday.

update on prototype/s:

pink is gay, I know, but I have other colours too.

if anyone cares, I ran into a few problems:
1. closure - I used a rectangle of sticky tape. dodgy looking? yes. but it works.. for now. maybe use a yaa sticker? P:
2. A4 paper is a little too small to make a good package - but it suffices. the tabs look a bit weird and mishapen but everything -just- functions.

thanks for lookin'.
any questions, comments or advice are always welcome.

this looks great =]
it helps bring out the thinness of the wallet
IF we are using this idea for packaging, do we just print the logos on the cardboard, cut and fold it??
yeah we could use a YAA sticker....

(are we making wasabi-green wallets?? any cardboard that matches this colour??)

thanks sharmaine!
the wallet actually makes the package bulge a little but it fits snugly.
yes we are making wallets in that colour, however I don't have wasabi-green coloured paper/cardboard (for now - if I get granted some money then I know where I'd be able to find some).
yes, I'd assume so - the logos wouldn't look so good printed onto colour. print on white paper, stick on.
